73 National Congress Awards

These awards will be presented at the Awards Ceremony of the 73rd National Congress, to be held in the year 2022.

To qualify for these awards, the first author mustbe a member of SEORL-CCC or a member of any of the scientific associations in agreement with SEORL.

The panel that confers these awards will be appointed by the Scientific Committee of the Congress, and its decision will be unappealable.

Each abstract presented may only be submitted for one award. If an abstract fulfils the criteria for more than one award, the first author will be requested to select and confirm which one he or she would like it submitted for.

Sending an abstract and cheking the “I wish that my abstract opts to the award” implies the acceptance of the guidelines written here. If the abstract is not presented during the designated session, the right to receive the award will be forfeit.

RESEARCH FORUM AWARD

It consist of a prize of € 1,000 (subtracting the corresponding retention from this amount) and an honorary diploma.

Application will be restricted to presentations in forum format accepted by the Scientific Committee to be presented at the Congress.

Once selected to participate in the session, the full paper must be emailed to congreso.premios@seorl.net in either Word or PDF format (8-10 pages, single-spaced, 12-point font) not later than 30th June at 23:59h.

A maximum of 6 selected works on basic or clinical research will be presented.

The tribunal will be composed of the President and General Secretary of SEORL-CCC, the President of the Training Committee and the President and members of the Research Committee.

The projects will be scored according to the following evaluation criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original or highly relevant topic, especially if offering a new approach to the topic presented.
  • Development of the topic (0-2 points): Clear description of the abstract. Correct explanation of the problem and of the objectives and conclusions of the abstract. Defense of the project in reply of the questions raised by the tribunal.
  • Quality (0-2 points): Methodology of the abstract, statistical method, complexity Assessment of number of cases relative to the frequency of the pathology or technique, etc.
  • Practical application of the results (0-2 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.
  • Relevance of Conclusions (0-2 points): Quality and relevance of the conclusions found.

BEST POSTER AWARD

It consist of a prize consisting of free registration to the 74th National Congress of the SEORL-CCC to be held in 2023.

The first author, when sending the abstract, must check if he/she wishes to be considered for the award.

Posters that are eligible for the award must be sent in an electronic format before the congress begins, within the time frame indicated in the instructions for creating and sending the poster in a digital format, which you will receive together with the acceptance of your work to be presented at the congress.

These works will be available online and may be viewed by congress attendees, who will be able to evaluate them before the congress is held and vote for the 3 they consider the best.

The 30 posters with the most votes will be selected and notified to be exhibited during the congress, in the designated poster area, where they will be presented and defended (in the event of a tie, the scientific committee will intervene to resolve the issue) Sessions to present and defend posters will be 60 minutes. The author will have 2 minutes to explain the work and 3 minutes for questions and answers. The panel will evaluate the posters on display, following the criteria laid out below, and will communicate their score to the Scientific Committee of the Congress.

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original topic, new screening techniques or surgery, infrequent clinical case, unusual cases or special characteristics, etc.
  • Design (0-3 points): General design that allows the idea and conclusions of the project to be easily assessed.
  • Quality (0-2 points): Images and quality graphics vs the quality of methodology employed in the most “conceptual” topics.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

BEST VIDEO AWARD

It consist of a prize consisting of free registration to the 74th National Congress of the SEORL-CCC to be held in 2023.

The first author, when sending the abstract, must check if he/she wishes to be considered for the award.

The videos that opt for the award must be sent in their definitive version before the start of the congress, within the time frame indicated in the instructions for creating the video which you will receive together with the acceptance of your work to be presented at the congress.

These works will be available online and may be viewed by congress attendees, who will be able to evaluate them before the congress is held and vote for the 3 they consider the best. The 5 videos with the most votes will be selected to be exhibited in the session ‘Video Forum’ in the indicated room.

The tribunal of this Forum will choose the winner according to the following evaluation criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original topic, new screening techniques or surgery, infrequent clinical case.
  • Quality (0-5 points): Clarity of the explanation in the video, complete explicative content, image quality, educational content, etc.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

BEST ORAL ABSTRACT AWARD

It consist of a prize consisting of free registration to the 74th National Congress of the SEORL-CCC to be held in 2023.

The first author, when sending the abstract, must check if he/she wishes to be considered for the award.

The abstract will be evaluated anonymously by a tribunal composed of 5 members that do not have relation with the authors.

The 10 best Oral Abstracts will be selected and will then be presented in special presentation sessions during the congress (in the event of a tie, the scientific committee will intervene to resolve the issue). Works in which none of the authors are able to present will be eliminated from the competition.

The winner will be chosen according to the following criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original or highly relevant topic, especially if offering a new approach to the topic presented.
  • Development of the topic (0-3 points): Clear description of the abstract. Correct explanation of the problem and of the objectives and conclusions of the abstract.
  • Quality (0-2 points): Methodology of the abstract, statistical method, complexity Assessment of number of cases relative to the frequency of the pathology or technique.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

The panel of this forum will be decided following the criteria of the Organising Committee.

BEST PAPER IN ‘AUDITORY PATHOLOGY UCAM – SEORLCCC’ AWARD

It consist of 1500€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honoury diploma.

The purposes of this call are to promote and stimulate research in auditory pathologies. They must be oriented to the research field and related to their prevention, diagnosis and treatment. For its evaluation, the quality of the work and its relevance will be taken into account.

Authors of the Oral abstracts sent to the congress and accepted by the Scientific Committee to be presented at the National Congress can opt to this award.

The first author of each abstract must be a SEORL member or a member of any of the scientific associations in agreement with SEORL.

To apply for the award, once the acceptance of the Abstract is confirmed, you must send before 30th June an abstract of 3-5 pages, in digital format (.pdf) to congreso.premios@seorl.net with the subject PREMIO CÁTEDRA UCAM – AUDIO 2022.

The projects will be scored according to the following evaluation criteria:

  • Originality (1-3 points): Evaluations will be based upon an original topic, a new description or approach to the issue, and the existence of similar published works.
  • Methodology (1-3 points): Points will be given for the quality of the methodology employed in the study (patients and/or studied variables, technical complexity, its relevance, statistical method, etc.).
  • Practical application of the results (1-3 points): Assess the possible applications of the results of the study, in the investigation of the auditory pathology.

BEST PAPER IN ‘VOICE PATHOLOGY UCAM – SEORLCCC’ AWARD

It consist of 1500€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honoury diploma.

The purposes of this call are to promote and stimulate research in voice pathologies. They must be oriented to the research field and related to their prevention, diagnosis and treatment. For its evaluation, the quality of the work and its relevance will be taken into account.

The authors of the Oral Abstracts presented to the congress and accepted by the scientific committee for their exposition at the current national congress will be eligible for this award.

It must be signed as the first author, by a member of the SEORL-CCC or an ORL Scientific Society with an agreement.

To apply for the award, once the acceptance of the Abstract is confirmed, you must send before 30th June an abstract of 3-5 pages, in digital format (.pdf) to congreso.premios@seorl.net with the subject PREMIO CÁTEDRA UCAM – AUDIO 2022.
