SEORL-CCC 2022 Awards

The winners of these awards will be published in the website of SEORL-CCC before the start of the 73rd National Congress, to be held in October 2022, will be presented at the Awards Ceremony of said Congress.

To qualify for these awards, the first author must be a member of SEORL-CCC.

The Evaluation Committee will be chaired by the President of SEORL-CCC and it will be made up of other 6 members chosen by the Board of Directors. Committee members shall not be associated in any way with the creation of works that are competing for the award.

The decision of the Evaluation Committee will be final and will be communicated to the authors as soon as possible. It is possible that the award may not be conferred.

Any proposal that does not comply with one or more of the requirements laid out will be automatically rejected.

When there is a significantly high number of works submitted, the committee will select a minimum of three and a maximum of five that will be considered finalists, from which the winner will be chosen.

In the event of a tie between multiple participants, the monetary amount of the award will be divided equally between the winners.

 

 

ACTA ORL ESPAÑOLA AWARD

It consists of 1,000€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honorary diploma.

This award will recognize the best paper published in the Acta Otorrinolaringológica Española in 2021, as judged by the Evaluation Committee.

Papers must be original and surgical, clinical or research based.

The paper must be emailed in electronic format to congreso.premios@seorl.net with the subject line “PREMIOS ACTA ORL 2022”.

The projects will be scored according to the following evaluation criteria:

  • Originality (1-3 points): Evaluations will be based upon an original topic, a new description or approach to the issue, and the existence of similar published works.
  • Methodology (1-3 points): Points will be given for the quality of the methodology employed in the study (patients and/or studied variables, technical complexity, its relevance, statistical method, etc.).
  • Practical application of the results (1-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

BEST PHD DISSERTATION AWARD

It consists of 1,000€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honorary diploma.

This award will recognize the best PhD Dissertation on Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery read in 2021. The topic of the dissertation must be related to a branch of research in ORL.

Applicants to the award must send an electronic copy of their dissertation to the e-mail: congreso.premios@seorl.net, including the grade earned and the members of the marking committee, as well as the articles related to the writing of the thesis, with the subject line “PREMIOS TESIS DOCTORAL 2022”.

The winning dissertation will be included in the library of SEORL-CCC. The winner must send a printed copy once the Committee has communicated their decision. Submission for the award signifies the participant’s express authorisation to publish an abstract of the presented dissertation on the SEORL-CCC website.

  • Methodology (1-3 points): Points will be given for the quality of the methodology employed in the study (patients and/or studied variables, technical complexity, its relevance, statistical method, etc.).
  • Practical application of the results (1-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.
  • Publications resulting from the dissertation (they must be attached). One point for each article. The adjusted impact factor (impact factor divided by quartile ranking in its category) will be added to publications with impact factors.

BEST CLINICAL PAPER PUBLISHED IN AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL AWARD

It consists of 1,000€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honorary diploma.

This award will recognize the best paper published in a journal receiving an ‘impact factor’ in the Science Citation Index in 2021.

The papers must be original and made in Spain, and the first author must be a member of SEORL-CCC.

They can be surgical or clinical articles, excluding presentations of clinical cases and articles reviewing a subject.

Applicants to the award must send a copy of the paper to congreso.premios@seorl.net iwith the subject line “PREMIOS TRABAJO CLÍNICO 2022”.

The quality of the work and the relevance of the journal in which it was published will be kept in mind during the evaluation, using the following evaluation criteria::

  • Originality: (1-3 points): Evaluations will be based upon an original topic, a new description or approach to the issue, and the existence of similar published works.
  • Methodology (1-3 points): Points will be given for the quality of the methodology employed in the study (patients and/or studied variables, technical complexity, its relevance, statistical method, etc.).
  • Practical application of the results (1-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.
  • Adjusted impact factor: Points will be awarded by dividing the impact factor of the journal by the quartile ranking of its subject category (1 for Q1, 2 for Q2, 3 for Q3 and 4 for Q4).

BEST BASIC OR APPLIED RESEARCH PAPER PUBLISHED IN AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL AWARD

It consists of 1,000€ (subtracting the corresponding withholding from this amount) and an honorary diploma.

This award will recognize the best paper published in an international journal receiving an impact factor in the Science Citation Index in 2021.

The papers must be original and made in Spain, and the first author must be a member of SEORL-CCC.

They may be basic or applied research articles, excluding articles reviewing a research topic.
Applicants to the award must send a copy of the paper to congreso.premios@seorl.net with the subject line “PREMIOS TRABAJO DE INVESTIGACIÓN 2022”.

The quality of the work and the relevance of the journal in which it was published will be kept in mind during the evaluation, using the following evaluation criteria::
